Hawk

The long-awaited reissue of Hawk finds Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan sharpening the chemistry that made Ballad of the Broken Seas and Sunday at Devil Dirt so compelling. Campbell’s hushed, haunted arrangements still rub beautifully against Lanegan’s gravel-deep baritone. Written, arranged and produced entirely by Isobel Campbell, Hawk was recorded in Scotland, England and the United States. Across 13 tracks, the duo stretch beyond country-folk into Southern soul, garage rock and gospel, while keeping that close, intimate pull at the centre. Highlights include You Won’t Let Me Down Again, featuring a guitar solo from former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, the slow-burning Come Undone, and versions of Snake Song and No Place To Fall, with guest vocals from Willy Mason.
