Squad 44 is a meticulously crafted World War 2 simulation game that offers a unique perspective on the events of 'Operation Market Garden'. The game plunges players into the heart of Holland, enabling them to live through the British and American Airborne's strategic capture of key bridges. The game highlights the struggle of the 1st British Airborne Division in Arnhem, known as the 'The Bloody Seventh', as they held their positions against the odds. The game caters to a diverse range of tactical preferences, giving players the chance to fight alongside various factions from the British Airborne Division to the German Army.
Historical Authenticity
The game prides itself on its historical accuracy, mirrored in an array of features - from the 1:1 scale levels based on military archives and historical maps to the photorealistic 3D uniforms. A broad set of actions, including parachute drops, supply runs, base building, and artillery support, ensures an immersive player experience. The Post Scriptum Software Development Kit (SDK) and Steam Workshop support empower players to modify or add content after release.
Content and Expansion
The initial rollout of Squad 44 includes 4 maps with a 5th one in the pipeline, covering a massive 140 km² of authentically recreated playable area. The game will also feature three modes, the first being “Offensive”, with “Armored” and “Sandbox” modes set to follow post-release. The game is filled with faithfully recreated vehicles, weapons, and landmarks, transporting players into the battle-torn landscapes of 1944 Arnhem.
