Baltica

Baltica Font Family was designed by Isay Slutsker and published by ParaType. Baltica contains 8 styles and family package options. The Baltica typeface features slab-serif characteristics with notably thinner serifs. Its capitals are generously wide, and it has a large x-height, ensuring good legibility even at small sizes.These qualities make Baltica particularly useful for newspaper and magazine typography, and in general for various text sizes, while its strong character shapes are ideal for striking display lines.Baltica was designed at the Polygraphmash type design bureau in 1951-52 by Vera Chiminova, Isay Slutsker, and others, inspired by Jakob Erbar's Candida (Ludwig & Mayer, 1936).The digital version, featuring three weights, was created at Polygraphmash by Alexander Tarbeev in 1988.
