ZOOT SUITE, a live date recorded in 1973, wasn't properly released until 2007. Fortunately, Sims take on classic swing is evergreen, and ZOOT SUITE sounds just as enjoyable today as it must have been to the audience in '73, and Sim's cool-toned tenor sounds as fine as it has since the 1940s. The set features several standards, including "Honeysuckle Rose," "Rockin' in Rhythm," and "In a Mellow Tone," and Sims's personnel, especially pianist Jimmy Rowles, is likewise impressive.Zoot Sims (vocals); Jimmy Rowles (piano); George Mraz (double bass); Mousie Alexander (drums).
